The character of traditional timber windows cannot be beat but replacing them can be an expensive business.
Homeowners with properties in conservation areas or period properties are particularly vulnerable to the potential extra cost as any home improvements must be in keeping with the original property and the surrounding area.
According to Steve Rawding, Sales and Marketing Director at leading South East home improvement company SEH BAC, replacing your timber windows doesn’t have to be as costly as you think thanks to uPVC wood effect windows such as Residence 9 and Residence 7 from the Residence Collection.
“There’s no doubt that aesthetically timber windows look fantastic, but with uPVC wood effect windows such as the popular Residence 7 and Residence 9 you get all the benefits of high-performance uPVC,” explained Steve.
“They are cost-effective and with Residence 9 windows featuring nine insulating chambers and Residence 7 incorporating seven, they are incredibly thermally efficient.
“They also have the bonus of being low maintenance compared to timber windows. uPVC is finished in an anti-fade protective coating, so it won’t fade, split or crack over time and it only needs an occasional wipe to remove any dirt.”
SEH BAC’s Heritage Windows Range features both Residence 9 and Residence 7. Residence 9 is designed to replicate the traditional flush sash timber window design popular in the 19th century, complete with the attractive curve of a decorative ovolo frame on the inside.
Residence 7 replicates the same window but offers a more modern take on this classic design, featuring flush frames on both sides of the window and a range of timber weld options to perfectly recreate both traditional and modern joinery techniques.
Both are available in a range of colours and finishes, and with a range of classical window furniture, to achieve a unique heritage window style.
“Residence 9 and Residence 7 windows are the ultimate compromise between the beautiful aesthetics of traditional wooden flush sash windows with the low maintenance and modern qualities of uPVC windows and will perform and look like new for around 35 years,” added Steve.
“And their authentic style and attention to detail has won them praise from UK planning authorities and they are regularly approved for use in most conservation areas as traditional timber replacements and on period property installations.”
