Casement Windows
“We wanted a window that provided a classic look to match our other windows, but one which provided modern performance and SEH BAC were able to provide us with exactly what we wanted from their range.”
Replacing windows on an older property is something that needs to be given more than a little thought. The upgraded windows must be in keeping with the character of the house.
For one Chelmsford resident, who’s windows were not performing as they should on their 40-year-old property, this was the biggest consideration. And having looked at three other home improvement companies, SEH BAC ticked all the boxes in terms of quality, price and being able to provide a stronger guarantee on when the work would be done.
The big renovation included five sets of doors and over 25 uPVC windows. The uPVC windows, which included impressive Bay Windows in the snug and kitchen; plus, uPVC casement windows in the bedrooms, bathrooms and on the landing, featured a chamfered frame. They were coloured on the outside with an agate grey grained foil, and on the inside with a white grained foil for the desired dual colour effect; so the windows not only complement the outside of the property but also the interior. The windows also included an astragal authentic single horizontal bar on the inside and outside, to divide the pane into sections and create a more traditional look, and double glazing with toughened glass. Stunning French doors in the snug, lounge and dining room were the perfect match. Our uPVC windows attain an A energy rating, feature superior security with locks embedded into the frame, and offer a maintenance-free design that won’t rot, crack, warp, or fade throughout their lifespan.
As the property was T-shaped, a lot of the rooms have three external walls which was making it very cold inside. All windows were installed with Comfort Glass, a significant step up from standard double glazing which, thanks to its smart low-e glass coating, stops 56% more internal heat escaping and provides the same level of insulation as more costly and bulky triple glazing. The new windows and doors have made a big difference, especially with the current cost of energy bills.
Steve Rawding, SEH BAC’s Sales and Marketing Director, commented: “The problem with older houses is that the windows will not be helping to provide a warm home. Single glazing will be inefficient, while even older double glazing will not be performing as it once did in terms of retaining heat. We’re delighted to hear how happy the customer is with his new windows.”
“We struggled to visualise what the windows would look like, but the SEH BAC team were brilliant in the design process, and we are so happy with the choice of the agate grey colour. The installation team were also impressive and turned up on time and worked hard to get the work done.”
