A Glass Conservatory Roof in Ipswich, Essex and Surrey

Structurally, the roof is the most important part of any conservatory or extension as it provides strength and stability that protects the frames and glazing panels, and so should be one of the main priorities during the design process and conservatory buying journey. Glass conservatory roofs have benefited from pioneering manufacturing techniques in the past decade, meaning they now offer excellent thermal abilities, ensuring a comfortable temperature 365 days of the year. Our high-quality glass is capable of deflecting the sun’s rays during the hotter months, and working in the opposite way, it will trap the heat during the winter.

What is a glass conservatory roof?

It’s a conservatory roof option that is designed using our high-performance glass. Combining large panels of thick glazing, it offers a modern yet sophisticated aesthetic. Whilst glass roofs may appear to look lightweight, they have been thoroughly tested to illustrate their exceptional durability. They are able to withstand winds of up to 130mph and heavy rains, without being impacted. This ensures your conservatory is protected from even the harshest of weathers.

A thermally efficient glass conservatory roof

Our high performing glass offers three unique benefits. The first is its incredibly low U values that surpass building regulations for greater thermal performances, reducing the carbon footprint of your conservatory. Our glass is solar controlled to deflect the heat of the sun when it reaches a comfortable temperature, meaning you won’t need to worry about your conservatory turning into a greenhouse during the summer. The third advantage is that we utilise self-cleaning glass in our roofing solutions; this advanced process uses the sun’s energy to burn off any dirt and the invisible coating aids water in removing any debris that has built up.
Our glass roofs guarantee no leaks or draughts will enter your conservatory as they include innovative spacer bars, insulated perimeters and chambered top caps, which could even save you money on your heating bills and minimise any maintenance costs further down the line. Trickle vents force a continuous flow of air into the conservatory, preventing moisture appearing and leading to condensation.

Choose from a range of advanced glass options

We offer four different glass types for our conservatory roofs, meaning you can choose the right one to suit your requirements. Visit our Colchester or Chelmsford showrooms to see the thermal performances of our glazing options.

    • Standard glass – With a U-value of 2.7W/(m²K), a G-value of 78% and light transmissions of 82%, this provides excellent energy efficiency abilities to keep your conservatory an optimal temperature all year round.
    • Smartglass - With a U-value of 1.2W/(m²K), a G-value of 40% and light transmissions of 52%, this option also includes a ‘self-clean’ coating, eliminating any maintenance needs and uses warm edge technology to enhance its thermal capabilities.
    • Smartglass Ultimate - With a U-value of 1.0W/(m²K), a G-value of 20% and light transmissions of 27%, this glass delivers even better energy efficiency performances and is available in the popular cool blue tint.
    • Smartglass Ultra 86 - With a U-value of 1.0W/(m²K), a G-value of 14% and light transmissions of 15%, this is currently the best performing glass available on the market. This will offer unparalleled heat retention performances to reduce your home’s energy bills and improve your home’s carbon footprint.
